Recently I have been reading the books written by Dr. Sharon Blackie who is a writer, psychologist and mythologist with a specialisation in Celtic Studies. I love the stories, fairy tales and myths that she explores and presents and was particularly interested in an old story from the Isle of Skye. In the story a young girl find herself lost in the mountains and finds herself taken in and apprenticed to an old woman and an old man who create the dreams of the world. The apprenticeship lasts for a year and day and when the time comes that she can go back down the mountains she finds a young man who had been dreaming about her waiting for her and she goes on to follow her mission to teach his people about dreaming. Stepping off the path to learn new skills, learning from someone who really knows and from a lived experience is the message.
